I had the bright idea a few weekends back to plant some mums in the front of our house in a big bright green planter. They were dead within three days and the big bright green planter drew a lot of attention to this.
The only things I’ve ever kept alive longer than a month are two dogs {they’re gone now, but not because of my lack of care. I swear.} and my two kids. I am cursed when it comes to gardening.
So I decided to let Avery try her hand at gardening today. We’ve been talking about it for a week. She was totally pumped and asked me about it every day. So today, I got out all the supplies and we’re ready to go and she tells me she doesn’t want to get her hands dirty. I explained that it was kind of the point, but she didn’t care. She doesn’t like dirt or anything sticky. And she demanded on wearing a dress. Such a princess. So I planted the flowers while she handed me the sprouts or whatever they’re called. And my nails are shot.
{Avery pretending to be more helpful than she really was throughout this process.}
{She REALLY liked watering them – which is probably where I fall flat. So this should be a big help.}
{Adoring the flowers. This was not staged. She really loved them this much.}
Taking bets now on how long these live. I’m thinking not past Thanksgiving.
