The Iowa Hawkeyes are a team after my own heart. I have loved them since I can remember. If you wanted to spend time with my dad (which I did) you had to love the Hawkeyes (which I did). In fact, my mom kept a piece of elementary school artwork where we had to draw our favorite thing (I put Hawkeyes) and our least favorite thing (I put Iowa’s in-state rival, Iowa State Cyclones). That’s how deeply rooted this rivalry is in my home state.

This is the first football game of the season and I’m all primed. My daughter has been able to spell IOWA since she was 2 and my son yells “Go Hawks” as enthusiastically as some Iowa freshman do. We’ve taught our kids well.
